Studio Kunukku is a design studio telling stories of communities through lost and endangered crafts. The team aims to turn block printing and other endangered crafts into tools for transformation, expression, and opportunity for our diverse communities. The studio operates a small atelier in Geitawi and works with local artisans to produce custom-made prints, fabrics, clothing, and furniture through partnerships with local designers and organizations. The two days workshop is a creative and engaging activity that can also serve as an outlet for self-expression. It will provide insight into the basics of motif and pattern creation, carving with rubber stamps, as well as printing with wooden ones on different materials like fabric and paper. The participants will have the chance to use blocks designed by Studio Kunukku or carve their own designs with guidance from the team, then take home their final pieces at the end of the workshop.
