Over the past year, we have witnessed the closure of an unprecedented amount of cultural and safe spaces all around Beirut and Lebanon. One of which was our own. The closing of Concept 2092 coincided with the start of the October 17th revolution, and soon after was followed by the global pandemic of COVID-19. We strongly believe in the importance of Art and self-expression as a tool against injustice and oppression. We strongly believe that the city’s cultural web is its hope and lifeline, that it is the child of the people who believe in change. It is to be cherished and protected, especially in times of hardships, and unfortunately, it’s currently taking a big hit.
