Media has desensitized us and made us grow accustomed to reacting only to the political spectacle, or acts of direct violence or aggression.
Today in Afghanistan, and after the Taliban take-over, the people, and especially women and other gender minorities, are paying the ultimate price as the rest of the world moves on. Nonetheless, we see the people’s resistance, led in many instances by women, coalescing around not only their fight against Taliban rule but against all forms of imperial and neo-colonial war machines. It is precisely when struggles disappear from the headlines that we must step up our efforts and amplify the voices of the people.
