About the panelists:
Sarah Huneidi is a Beirut-based literary editor and audiovisual artist. In 2018, she co-founded the experimental publishing house Barakunan, where she acts as managing editor and content creator. In 2022, she co-founded Shatr, a collective aimed at galvanizing and championing poetry in Beirut. These literary collectives allow her to explore and present her experience with and passion for literature in kinetic and animated formats.
lisa luxx is a poet, essayist, playwright, and activist. Widely published in anthologies and literary journals including by Penguin Books and New England Review. Her debut collection Fetch Your Mother’s Heart was released in 2021 and traces the longing and grief of revolutions happening within and outside the body. She also guest lectures at universities in the UK and US on poetics and resistance.
Haig Aivazian is an artist living in Beirut. Working across a range of media and modes of address, he delves into the ways in which power embeds, affects, and moves people, objects, animals, landscapes, and architecture. Aivazian has explored apparatuses of control and sovereignty at work in sports, museums, the office, and music. He was the Artistic Director of Beirut Art Center between 2020 and 2022.
Rima Rantisi teaches in the Department of English at the American University of Beirut and is the founding editor of Rusted Radishes: Beirut Literary and Art Journal. Her essays can be found in the New England Review, Literary Hub, Assay: A Journal of Nonfiction Studies, Sweet: A Literary Confection, Past Ten, and Slag Glass City. She holds an MFA in Creative Nonfiction from the Vermont College of Fine Arts.
